Crochet G6 and 3 yarns different yarn colors: Blue, Pink, Orange
1. Start with chain 5 on Blue, close circle with slip stitch on first chain, now you have a ring. Chain 2 on Blue (counts as first double crochet).
2. Place Crafty Ring on finger, place Blue in left loop and Pink in right loop. Start double crochet in the circle with Pink, change to Blue and Pink for every stitch. Make 11 more double crochet (Total 12 double crochet). Close row with slip stitch on Pink on second chain. Chain 1 on Pink.
3. Change yarn colors on Crafty ring loops: left loop Pink and right loop Orange.
4. Grab the Orange yarn and work a half double crochet on same stitch. From now on, make 2 half double crochet in every stitch, one each color, to the end. Close the row with slip stitch on second chain with Orange.
Materials: 2 Caron Yarn skins. Crochet G6. This is a Jacquard effect technique, similar to Intarsia, Mochila or Tapestry crochet. Each one with different variations on technique. Here I use my own technique as I explain below.
I make crochet patterns like a brick wall. This is the way crochet builds up every row. This pattern if for Half double crochet stitch. White spaces are Yarn A, Red spaces Yarn B. Read the pattern as the arrows indicate. Turn your work every row. Grab every stitch through 2 loops.
Start with 28 chains in 1 color. Turn your work. Row #1(read the pattern from right to left): 2 chain (counts as first Half double crochet) then start on the 3rd chain from the hook. Turn your crochet work. Row #2: Follow the pattern row #2 reading from left to right.
1. (HERE I AM DOING ROW #3 ON THE PATTERN). Start with 2 chains (this will be the first half double crochet of the row or stitch #1 of the pattern).
2. Yarn over (white). The next stitch (#2 on the pattern) will be on the 3rd chain from the hook. Every time you stitch with the white yarn, you will wrap or encapsulate the carrying red yarn in the new white stitch that you are making. How?...
3. ... Lay the red yarn on top of the row, insert the hook on the 3rd chain (through 2 loops), make sure you insert the hook under the red yarn. Yarn over (white), pull through the stitch...
4. Yarn over (white) and close the stitch through all the loops.
5. Here I am closing the stitch, going through all the loops and the red yarn is wrapped or encapsulated inside the new stitch.
6. The stitch #3 on the 3rd row. Grab the red yarn from the loop, yarn over and...
7. Insert the hook through 2 loops on the next stitch.
8. Yarn over (red) and pull through the stitch ...
9. Yarn over (red) close the stitch going through all the loops.
10. We start and close every stitch with the same color always, even when we change colors.
11. Stitch #4 on the pattern, row #3. Here we find the carried white yarn from changing colors the row before. Lay the white on top of the row. Yarn over (white)...
12. Insert the hook under the white yarn that is laying on the row
13. Yarn over (white). Note: The hook goes under the red yarn to grab the white yarn caming from the ring, this way is wrapping or encapsulating the red.
14. Pull through the stitch. Here you can see how the red and white that you are carrying are being wrapped by the white stitch.
15. Yarn over (white)
16. Close the stitch through all the loops. This way you have the carried white and red yarns wrapped at the same time, with the white stitch.
Finished work, each earring is about 1 1/2 to 2 in.
